Join us Friday, Jan. 20 at 7pm in the sanctuary for the screening of “Our Lives to Fight For” – a documentary about prostitution in Canada. Trisha Baptie, the Executive Director of Honour Consulting and founding member of EVE (formerly Exploited Voices Now Educating) will lead a panel discussion about ways we can respond, following the screening.

To start the New Year at Tenth Church we’ll focus on God’s heart for mission. We’ve got a great line up of speakers!

Starting January 8th, Tenth Church is changing all of its service times. The Mount Pleasant service will start at 9:15am and 11:15 am. The Kitsilano Campus will start at 10:15am, and the 3rd Service will start at 6:30pm. Mark your calendars. Also, on January 8th we will hear from Pastor Ken Pierce and his wife Aisyah. On Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25, there will ONLY BE ONE 10:30am service at Mount Pleasant. Tenth@Kits will also have a Christmas Day service at 10:30am, and 3rd Service will have a regular service at 7pm. Join us as we celebrate Christmas this year on a Sunday.

A Christmas Carol

If you are a member, one of the most concrete, practical ways you can serve Tenth is by attending our AGM. This year our meeting is Sunday, Nov 27 from     1-2 PM at our Mount Pleasant site.

At the AGM, you will hear our Senior Pastor, Ken Shigematsu, and Board Chairperson, Wayman Crosby, reflect on the high points of our last year and vision cast our future.

Very practically, we will also need a quorum to elect members to our Board of Elders which is our church’s highest governing body.  So please come and vote.

The secret parts of people’s lives have been kept secret for far too long. These dark places have wreaked havoc, causing many men and women in the church to despair and give up hope.

That’s the reason Living Waters exists—to help bring freedom in those who are addicted, abused and confused (Isaiah 61). Our desire is to see God’s people live the full and healthy lives He intended.

Put simply, Living Waters is a community-based, Christ-centred discipleship ministry that deals specifically with relational and sexual brokenness.

Justice not Charity

We are approaching the winter holiday season, and with it, the ubiquitous appeals for charitable donations. The CBC will be hosting its 25th annual Food Bank day this year and numerous other organizations will be soliciting gifts of various kinds to be distributed to those in need. Yet after decades of these annual cycles of charitable generosity, poverty is still alive and well within our communities. So what would it mean to tackle the root causes of poverty rather than focus on its temporary alleviation? What would it take to establish justice rather than promote occasional acts of charity?

How might charity undermine justice rather than hasten its actualization?

These are the issues we want to explore at this evening forum.
