KEN PIERCE – PASTOR OF SMALL GROUPS AND DISCIPLESHIP

“Yes, it’s true, I’m from the southern part of the U.S. and I seem to have an accent; at least that’s what they say.  However, I have spent most of my adult years in the middle part of the U.S. (Missouri, Kansas and Iowa).  I have been married for over 25 years to Aisyah.  I love her deeply and can’t believe I get to be with her all the time:  What a privilege!  I also have 2 grown children, neither of whom currently live with us.  Being an “empty nester” is a cool and crazy experience for us both.

I’m an extrovert and I love eating out, having people over for a meal and some board games. Basically, I just like being around others.  I’m quite serendipitous and enjoy last minute fun times that come together well.  I like to bike and the sea wall and Stanley Park are two of my favourite places to ride.  I’ve actually done a few long rides, the longest being 160 km in one day. However, I can’t say I really enjoyed that ride; but, I can say “I did it!” I try to eat healthy but have a weakness for sweets.

I’m the pastor of discipleship at Tenth.  What does that mean?  Hmm…for now, that means I am charged with two main things:

-Leading our small group ministry
-Helping Tenth understand what it means for us to “go deeper” in our journeys with Christ.

That second one is pretty huge but a worthy challenge.  I sense I still have much to learn!
Two last things: I love Tenth Church and I’m really loving the city of Vancouver.”
